Sala Karn Parien, Missakawan Park

Crocidile Pond
is a cement pond with a hill in the middle. Walking to the top of the hill through a spiral staircase, you will see a small chedi. At the east of the pond there is a big Chinese style building name “Tuek Farang” (Chinese Joss-House Roff) which was built in the reign of King Rama III. This pond is now applied to be a shady decorative plant garden with many kinds of trees mentioned in Thai literature.



Missakawan Park

is a big park with decorative plants and a Chinese style pavilion in the east. Located in this park is one important Sri Maha Pho tree (Assattapreuk Tree) which was brought from Lanka (Ceylon) in the reign of King Rama IV. The mural painting in the pavilion depicts scences from “Sam Kok”, a famous Chinese literature.




Sala Karn Parien
or the Teaching-learning Hall, this hall was built in Ayudhya period as the main chapel of Wat Phodharam and was later retored in the reign of King Rama III. The principal Buddha image of Wat Phodharam named “Phra Buddha Sassada” was once enshrined here. There was also a mural painting about hells and twelve demons. This hall is now used for learning and meditation purposes.
