VAT Refund for Tourists

If you were travel in Thailand and you go shopping you can get your VAT refund. Do you Know it? How?

3 easy steps to claim your refund.

1. Shopping

* Shop at the store displaying Show your passport and ask for the form P.P.10 and original tax invoices when your purchase is at least 2,000 Baht(Vat included) per store per day. Please note that Total purchase have to be 5,000 baht per person(Vat included) or more, to qualify for the Vat refund.

2. Authorising

* Before loading your luggage at the International Airport, show your purchases at the Customs Office.

3. Refunding

* Submit Form P.P.10 and all original tax invoices to collect your refund at the VAT Refund Office after the passport control.

* Luxury goods like jewelry, gold ornament, watches, glasses and pens with value of 10,000 Baht or more per item must be shown once again at the VAT Refund Office.

* OR MAIL BACK .... Form P.P.10 (with customs stamp), original tax invoices and photocopy of your credit card.

Who can claim VAT refunds?

The answer is VAT refund can be claimed by any non-Thai visitor who

- is not a crew member of an airline:

- departs Thailand by air carrier from an international airport.

How to claim a VAT refund? At an international airport.

1. Before checking in, show your purchase, completed P.P.10's and tax invoice(s) to the Customs Officer prior immigration process for inspection at the Customs Office.

2. Hand-carried luxury goods, such as jewelry, gold ornament, watch, glasses and pen with value of 10,000 Baht or more per item must be re-inspected at the VAT Refund Office after passport control.

3. Request your VAT refund at the VAT Refund office.

** Remark

If you are in a hurry, after all inspections made by the customs and Revenue officers, you may either drop you application form(P.P.10 and tax invoice(s)) into the box located in front of the VAT refund Office or mail them to VAT Refund for Tourists Office The Revenue Department of Thailand 90 Phaholyothin 7, Phyathai, Bangkok 10400, Thailand.

How will the refund be paid?

you can choose to recieve your refund:

Refund Amount not exceeding 30,000 Baht ..... Refund method ::: cash in Thai Baht, bank draft, credit into your credit card account

Or if exceeding 30,000 Baht The refund method go to bank draft, credit into your credit card account

The following fees apply to refund requests

- For cash refund, a process fee of 100 Baht will be charged.

- For bank draft refund, a process fee of 100 Baht will be charged plus draft issuing fee at the rate charged by banks and postage fees.

- For credit into credit card account refund, a process fee of 100 Baht plus money transfer fee at the rate charged by banks and postage fees.

What do not qualify for VAT refund?

1. The following goods:

- prohibited items

- firearms, explosives or any similar items

- gem stones

2. Goods not taken out of Thailand within 60 days from the purchase date.

ATTENTION:::: Anyone found guilty of committing any wrongdoing, such as not having purchased the goods or not taken the goods out of the Kingdom of Thailand, whether acting alone or with others, will be liable to a penalty stated in the Commercial and civil code as well as the Penal Code.

Hints
